A personal sat flies far above the land of the fee and the home of the knave
Something like the original PSA is finally making it aboard the ISS. It's pitched as a test of formation flying, rather than the more ambitious tron-like "Bit" role of a your softball sized space pal. There's tons of juvenile novels with a softball sized space pal in them: flatcats, tribbles... I guess "a test of formation flying" did a better job of getting past the ex-aviators in Congress. Regardless the microgravity manueverable probe looks like a damn useful device to have around the station. Maybe this will put a minor rest to the whole Man vs Machine debate that has been going on in space since some ambitious journalist invented it in the 60s. My answer to that has always been:It's Man + Machine, Stupid. I'm going to create a new acronym - MPMS - and use it from now on from now - to refer to this topic. At least, I think it's a new acronym, googling for it right now would ruin my creative streak.
Now we can argue that maybe it should be "Machine + Man, Stupid", but in no way can we continue to argue that it should be "Man - Machine, Stupid" (MMMS) or the "Machine - Man, Stupid" - that would be double plus ungood.
